01:32 - first tank displayed by members of The Forum of Fishkeepers from Opole. It is a biotope aquarium, imitating Central European water body, stocked with crayfish Procambarus fallax f. virginalis.
01:58 - second aquarium at the booth of Forum for Fishkeepers from Opole, totally opposite to the previous one. It's a planted tank arranged in the "nature aquarium" style. Plants used are: Microsorum pteropus, Staurogyne repens, Eleocharis parvula, Hygrophila pinnatifida, Barclaya longifolia (I think ), Ludwigia brevipes (I think ), lots of aquatic mosses, and Bolbitis heudelotii. Aquarium is stocked with ember tetras Hyphessobrycon amandae.
03:00 - interesting planted aquarium at the booth of Nano Studio Art. It's very high, and quite narrow - unusual proportions for a planted aquarium, yet, it looks very good and seems to work very good, too Plants used are: Microsorum pteropus, Hygrophila corymbosa, Micranthemum umbrosum, Hemianthus micranthemoides, and some aquatic mosses These fish are Iriatherina werneri.
04:09 - second tank at the booth of Nano Studio Art, this time very small tank, most probably manufactured by ADA (the cabinet is made by ADA, for sure). The rocks used in this layout are ADA Manten Stone, they are arranged in a form of "brigde" - I didn't show it very well, but if you look carefully, you'll notice there is an opening underneath the central part of the stony structure. Plants used are mostly various type of aquatic mosses - stringy moss, Taiwan moss and christmass moss. There are also small patches of Riccardia chamedryfolia, Hemianthus callitrichoides "Cuba" and Cladophora sp.
Another part of the video report showing aquariums displayed at The 6th Silesian Aquarium Weekend This time I present some tanks located in the central part of the hall, and some located on the right side of the hall, near the entrance.
00:29 - first aquarium at the large booth of SuperDiscus.pl company, a breeder of very high quality discus fish The layout is interesting rather from the outside I mean, aquarium is located within a cabinet imitating a lighthouse
00:42 - second aquarium at the booth of SuperDiscus, this time incorporated into a boat As the previous one, it is stocked with various varietes of Symphysodon aequifasciatus.
01:10 - smaller tank, located on a sort of a "dock" for boats As far as I remember, it houses juvenile discus fish from the cross Symphysodon discus x S. aequifasciatus. Interesting, but should we really interbreed these magnificient fish, instead of trying to maintain wild forms as close to the real ones as possible?
01:45 - aquarium arranged by members of Akva-Tera fishkeepers and terrarists society from the city Rychnov nad Kněžnou in the Tschech Republic. It istocked with Congo tetras Phenacogrammus interruptus and barbs Puntius semifaciolatus.
02:25 - large aquarium at the booth of the Rzekotka.com company, a pet-shop from Katowice ("rzekotka" means "treefrog" ). It is stocked with young Cyphotilapia frontosa, Neolamprologus brichardi, Neolamprologus leleupi, and with some species of a shell dweller (visible at 02:50) - not sure which one exactly Interesting layout, even though it is not exactly arranged in the most natural way
03:11 - small cube with interesting decoration around. Please note that the moss inside the plant inside the tank (Cladophora sp.) is very similar to mosses located around it, on the fragment of wood. It looks as if the inside of the tank was a continuation of the outside decoration. However, please bear in mind that you shouldn't keep Betta fish in such a small aquarium for longer time - even though this one here seems to be pretty happy with its accommodation. Bettas need larger tanks, with cover, heaters, filters, and lots of plants. In my previous videos you have numerous wonderful examples of how a properly arranged Betta-tank should look like
04:03 - first aquarium at the booth of the Płaszczka pet-shop ("płaszczka" means "stingray" ), arranged in an interestig way, with some emersed plants. It is stocked with at least three species of fishes, out of which I recognize only Corydoras duplicareus (or one of other, very similar species). Bera in mind that all corys should be kept in tank with fine sand bottom - they love to search for food digging in the sand, and such large gravel particles can even hurt their delicate barbels.
04:40 - large aquarium at the booth of the Płaszczka company, stocked with some large fishes from South America. unfortunately, I don't know any of these species Anyone can help with ID-ing them?
05:32 - single aquarium arranged by members of Polish Club of Discus Fans. It is stocked with Pterophyllu altum angelfish
There was a biotope aquarium contest organized during the 6th Silesian Aquarium Weekend. In total eight tanks entered the contest, and of course I've filmed all of them
00:28 - Aquarium arranged by Maciej Kościuk, entitled "Mexican wells". It was stocked with juvenile cichlids Thorichthys meeki. I think the decorations are slightly too scarce...
00:46 - Aquarium arranged by Krzysztof Raczkowski , entitled "Betta paradise" (the 1st place in the contest). It was stocked with Betta prima. This layout seems to be an opposite of the previous one - here the decorations are really abundant, to the extent when you can't see not only the fish, but the inside of the aquarium, too...
01:06 - Aquarium arranged by Leszek Boczkowski, stocked with Channa bankanensis snakehead fish. Snakeheads are masters of camouflage, no wonder it looks as if there were no fish at all
01:27 - Aquarium no 4, I'm not sure who was the designer. It was stocked with harlequin rasobras Trigonostigma heteromorpha.
01:44 - Aquarium arranged by Sebastian Josiek, entitled "By the bank". Very good idea - open top tank with fragment of driftwood sticking out above the water surface. Some emersed plants contribute even more to the natural feel. Aquarium was stocked with Trigonostigma espei rasboras.
02:13 - Aquarium arranged by Maciej Chochla, entitled "Stream in Myanmar", stocked with Danio choprae. Very nice tank, and also the idea of covering it with fern leaves is very good.
02:38 - Aquarium arranged by Anna Malinowska, entitled "Home" (the 2nd place in the contest). Very good name for biotope tank ! Lots of algae created a very natural feel. Tank was stocked with Channa sp. mimetic pulchra snakeheads.
02:56 - Aquarium arranged by Tomasz Raczkowski (the 3rd place in the contest). Another tank with harlequin rasoboras Trigonostigma heteromorpha, entitled "Indonesian forest stream". The second fish species was Betta ocellata.
00:39 - aquarium imitating central european coldwater biotope, stocked with some crucian carps Carassius auratus. There is also one freshwater bivalve, but I'm not sure what species this is
01:04 - simple "open top" aquarium. A classic design, one might say. This is how most home tanks look like, I think Plants used are some cryptocorynes, Cladophora sp., Limnophila sp., and very nice Limnobium laevigatum on the surface of water Aquarium is stocked with green neon tetras Paracheirodon simulans.
01:25 - this is what the fishbowl should really be used for NOT for fish at all! Very nice "iwagumi on land" layout, planted with Hemianthus callitrichoides which was previously accustomed to emersed conditions.
01:37 - very nice small planted aquarium, planted mostly with various kinds of mosses. These are the plants wich I can recognize: Pogostemon helferi, phoenix moss, Bucephalandra sp., Anubias nana, and various Microsorum ferns. Aquarium was set up and is maintained using products of the AZOO company.
02:43 - aquarium with fishes from the Lake Tanganyika - exLamprologus ocellatus "gold" and Altolamprologus sp. "compressiceps shell". The latter has spawned in one of the shells - you can see small fry on close ups Interesting fact is that the rocks used in this layout originate from the Jura region, famous for its limestones and karst springs
The last video about aquariums displayed at The 6th Silesian Aquarium Weekend. This time I show several tanks arranged by members of the Association of Fishkeepers from Upper Silesia.
00:28 - biotope aquarium with Hemichromis elongatus, a species of cichlid originating from Africa.
01:04 - small marine aquarium with various colorful Tubastrea sp. corals. The fish is Chrysiptera cyanea damselfish.
01:14 - quite interesting tank, planted only with hornwort Ceratophyllum sp., and stocked with very rare livebearer fish Xenoophorus captivus "Rio Santa Maria".
02:53 - very small and very green aquarium planted only with minipelia Riccardia chamedryfolia
03:20 - very good aquarium with a land part. Or, rateher a paludarium The land part is made of styrofoam, carved to desired shape and "painted" with "coconut soil". There is a small pump which creates the waterfall. Numerous tropical land plants are planted above water, and some water plants are growing above the water surface - the one with violet flowers is Hygrophila pinnatifida, I think! Great tank, with a perfect balance of scale (I mean, the height of the "islands" and the depth of the water ).
04:25 - another very interesting tank, this time with no plants at all - it's a cave biotope of blinda cave tetras Astyanax mexicanus. Pay attention to the background - it is carved in styrofoam and illuminated with small blue LEDs
04:53 - Tanganyikan layout, stocked with Julidochromis transcriptus.
05:39 - biotope aquarium stocked with Danio choprae, which unfortunately seemed to be too scared to show themselves in the open water...
05:57 - "classic" planted aquarium, one of these which people often have at home. It is stocked with Hyphessobrycon flammeus and Microgeophagus ramirezi. I like the substrate in this tank - it's neither gravel nor sand, just like a mixture of them.
06:20 - very nice planted aquarium, also of the "classic" type. Attarctive and easy to maintain. Plants used are Anubias sp., Sagittaria subulata, Cryptocoryne sp., Vallisneria sp. and Elodea sp. I'm not sure what the single red plant on the right side is But I know the fish - Xiphophorus helleri, probably the "wagtail" variety
